Professor Dr. Ilona Kickbusch is an internationally leading expert in global health. After studying political science and sociology at the University of Konstanz, she began her career at the World Health Organization (WHO), where she was among those who initiated the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion.
After her time at the WHO, she headed the Global Health Program at Yale University and later founded the Global Health Centre in Geneva. Kickbusch shaped key concepts such as health literacy, “Health in All Policies,” the settings approach, and global health diplomacy. She advises governments and international organizations on health policy matters and has been honored for her commitment with the Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) and the WHO Medal. She currently heads the DTH -Lab, which researches the impact of digital transformation on the health of children and adolescents.
